Brown, White Earn First Men's Basketball Weekly Awards

Junior guard J'Covan Brown (Texas) and sophomore forward Royce White (Iowa State) have earned the first Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week for 2011-12 in voting by a panel of media covering the Conference. It is the first accolade for both student-athletes.

Brown tied his career high with 28 points and set career marks in field goals made (10) and assists (8) in the Longhorns' 82-46 victory over Boston University. The junior guard had just one turnover in 31 minutes of play, converting 3-of-9 from 3-point range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. He also grabbed four rebounds. Brown, making the first start since his freshman season (March 10, 2010 at Baylor), recorded double-digit scoring for the 34th time in his career. It was also his ninth outing with 20 points or more.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Royce White, Iowa State, So., F, 6-8, 270, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins/University of Minnesota
White led the Cyclones with 25 points and 11 rebounds as Iowa State notched an 86-77 victory over Lehigh. The sophomore forward's double-double led the team in both categories as he also registered a team-best three blocked shots. He was 9-of-15 (.600) from the field and 7-of-9 (.778) from the free throw line. White's effort was one of the best Cyclone debuts in the last 20 years, topping Jackson Vroman's 23-point, 11-rebound game vs. Coe College on Nov. 25, 2002.
