A quartet of Big 12 women’s basketball players were selected in the 2017 WNBA Draft to bring the Conference’s all-time total to 109 in the 21-year history of the professional league.
Guard Alexis Jones (Baylor) was the 12th overall pick in the first round when she heard her name called by the Minnesota Lynx to increase the Big 12’s number of first round selections to 34.
In the second round, forward Breanna Lewis (K-State) was chosen 11th by the Dallas Wings. Guard Alexis Prince (Baylor) and center Lanay Montgomery (West Virginia) were drafted in consecutive selections in the third round at fifth and sixth, respectively. Prince went to the Phoenix Mercury while Montgomery was taken by the Seattle Storm.
The draft consists of three rounds and 36 draft selections.
