WVU, Tech Ranked In NSCAA Poll
August 03, 2016

Two squads that represented the Big 12 in the NCAA Championship a year ago – Texas Tech and West Virginia are ranked in the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Preseason Poll.

The Mountaineers lead the way with the No. 6 spot, the team’s highest preseason ranking. A NCAA Tournament quarterfinalist in 2015, West Virginia was No. 12 in last season’s preseason poll. WVU was ranked in the top five of the NSCAA Poll in each of the last 10 weeks of the 2015 campaign. Eighteen letterwinners return this year, including senior All-Americans Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence

Texas Tech checks in at No. 19 after being ranked every week last season. The Red Raiders captured the postseason Big 12 Championship in Kansas City in 2015 and returns the bulk of the defensive back-line, including senior goalkeeper Lauren Watson.
