TCU travels to Texas Tech Thursday to open Week 3 action in the second conference game of the young season. Seven teams continue non-conference play on Saturday while Baylor has an open date.

After going 6-1 in non-conference games last week, the Big 12 is 65-11 in non-league games since 2011 and 58-6 in the month of September since 2011.

Big 12 teams opened the season with a total of 69 first-time starters, including six quarterbacks.

The Big 12 has four teams ranked nationally and is the only league with 70 percent of its teams ranked or receiving votes in the coaches poll.

Big 12 teams are averaging 486.4 yards and 35.6 points while holding opponents to 382.3 yards and 18.3 points.

The Big 12 has scored on 61-of-70 (.87.1%) red zone attempts with 48 touchdowns (68.6 percent).

In the last two weeks, Big 12 defenses have held non-conference foes to 61 drives of three-or-less plays that have resulted in a punt or turnover.

Ten players have recorded a 100-yard receiving performance while six have totaled 100-plus rushing yards in the first two weeks of the season.

The Big 12 has 33 scoring drives of 50-plus yards in less than 2 minutes and 14 scoring plays of at least 50 yards.

Through two weeks of action, five touchdowns have been scored by special teams and defense in addition to a safety.

Through two weeks, Big 12 teams have totaled 81 touchdowns from scrimmage. 43 have been rushes, averaging 11.8 yards per TD. 38 have been passes averaging 34.9 yards per TD. Overall the 81 touchdowns from scrimmage average 22.7 yards.
