Ash, Hasley and Lockett Selected Big 12 Football Players of the Week
September 17, 2012

Sophomores David Ash (Texas), Joel Hasley (TCU) and Tyler Lockett (K-State) have been named Big 12 Conference Football Players of the Week, as selected by a media panel. Lockett (special teams) picked up his third career honor while Ash (offense) and Hasley (defense) were recognized for the first time.

Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
David Ash, Texas, QB, So, Belton, Texas
David Ash completed 19-of-23 passes for a career-best 326 yards and career-high four touchdowns (no interceptions) in Texas' 66-31 win over Ole Miss. Ash, who completed 15 straight passes at one point in the game, led the Horns to 676 yards of offense, its second-most yards in a game in school history. Texas registered 350 yards rushing and 326 passing to post better than 300 yards both rushing and passing for just the third time in school history (first time in a road game) and its 66 points were the most in a game since the 2005 Big 12 Championship win over Colorado (70-3). It was the most points Ole Miss had given up in a game since 1917. Ash's four TD passes averaged 44 yards, including scoring strikes of 69, 55 and 46 yards. He also rushed for 19 yards to tally a career-best 345 yards of total offense. Ash has now thrown seven TDs with no interceptions this year and tossed 96 passes without a pick dating back to last year.

Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Joel Hasley, TCU, LB, So, Aledo, Texas
Joel Hasley totaled a career-high 12 tackles, including eight solo in TCU's 20-6 win at Kansas. He recorded the first two sacks of his career in his second collegiate start. The Horned Frogs defense held KU to a pair of field goals and 2-of-13 on third-down conversions.

Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Tyler Lockett, K-State, KR, So, Tulsa, Okla.
After North Texas took a 7-0 first-half lead, Tyler Lockett returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards to tie the game and propel the Wildcats to a 35-21 win. The return for a touchdown was the third in his career. Lockett is now in sole possession of second place in the K-State record book and is two away from tying Brandon Banks' record of five (2008-09). The sophomore is second among active players in career kickoff return touchdowns. He finished the night with 119 yards on two kickoff returns.
