Six Big 12 wrestlers earned at-large bids to compete in the NCAA wrestling championships March 16-18 at the Scottrade Center in Saint Louis. The league will send 44 student-athletes to compete for top honors, including 38 automatic qualifying bids, determined at the Big 12 Wrestling Championship.
Iowa State’s Earl Hall and Lelund Weatherspoon, along with Wyoming’s Arhie Colgan, NDSU’s Andrew Fogarty and Oklahoma’s Yoanse Mejias and Utah Valley’s Tanner Orndorff were the student-athletes selected for at-large bids from the conference.
Hall will tussle in the 133 pound weight class, while Colgan will compete at 157. Fogarty and Mejias will go at 165, as Pestano and Smith square off at the 174 and 197, respectively.
Including the automatic qualifiers and at-large bids, the league boasts seven competitors in the 165 pound weight class.
