OU Returns to Super Six

Oklahoma is headed back to the Super Six, following a first place finish in Semifinal I action. On their way for a chance at a second consecutive national title, Nicole Lehrmann and Maggie Nichols were named NCAA National Champions for their performances on uneven bars.

This marks the fifth straight and seventh overall appearance for Oklahoma in the team finals. The defending national champions, who scored a 197.7250, will be joined by LSU, Florida, Alabama, UCLA and Utah. Events are set to begin at 8 p.m. CT on ESPNU with individual streams of each event available on WatchESPN.com.

Lehrmann and Nichols are the second and third NCAA Bar champions in program history, joining Kelly Garrison (1988). The pair posted 9.95 marks, tying with UCLA’s Kyla Ross for first.

Denver earned fifth in Semifinal I with 196.4750 points, besting the previous program record by .9000. DU also set school records for team score in the national semifinals on bars, beam and floor while earning the second-highest mark on vault, capping off one of the most successful seasons the program has ever seen.

West Virginia’s Zaakira Muhammad capped off the 2017 season by tallying 39.0375 points, good for 15th place in the all-around competition and fourth among the individual all-around qualifiers. Iowa State’s Haylee Young finished off just behind her, earning an all-around score of 39.1875 to tie for 16th place.
