Cash and Mesquita Capture Weekly Awards

Oklahoma State’s Julian Cash and Kansas State’s Ines Mesquita take home Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week honors for the sixth week of competition. This marks the first career weekly award for Mesquite and third for Cash.

MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Julian Cash, Oklahoma State, Jr., Brighton, England

  • The junior knocked off two top-25 opponents in singles and collected a pair of doubles victories during Oklahoma State’s first trip to the ITA National Indoor Championship since 2008.
  • Picked up the biggest win of his OSU career as he dropped No. 11 Texas’ No. 5 Christian Sigsgaard in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
  • In doubles action, Cash and his partner Arjun Kadhe, who make up the nation’s No. 5 tandem, collected two more victories this past weekend.

WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ines Mesquita, K-State, Fr., Lourinha, Portugal

  • Assisted K-State to two wins over the weekend with a pair of singles victories and a triumph in doubles.
  • Defeated North Texas Alexis Thoma on Friday and then took down Victoria Matejevic of Washington State on Saturday.
  • Recorded a doubles win over Washington State that started K-State’s comeback to give the Wildcats their best win of the season.
