Track & Field Teams Ready To Rock in Rock Chalk Park

Track and Field student-athletes will make their way to Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas for the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, May 12-14. The meet will be highlighted by some of the top athletes and programs in the country.

The men's side is loaded with five teams ranked in the USTFCCCA's National Top 25. Texas Tech checks in at No. 3, Texas at No. 10, Baylor at No. 13, Kansas at No. 14, and Oklahoma State at No. 24. The Big 12's five ranked squads are the second most of any conference.

On the women's side, three teams are ranked: No. 9 Texas, No. 11 Baylor and No. 12 Kansas State. Texas Tech and K-State both led their regional indexes in the Mountain and the Midwest respectively.

In 2016, Texas swept the outdoor championship, with the women claiming their 10th Big 12 title (1997, ‘98, ‘99, 2003, ‘04, ‘06, ‘12, ‘14, ‘15, 16') and the men their seventh (1997, ‘99, 2003, ‘06, ‘13, ‘15, ‘16).

At the 2017 indoor championship this past February, came down to the last four events in the women's competition and the very last race of the day to decide the men's champion. In the end, the Texas men and Baylor women took home the Big 12 Track and Field crown.

The Championship begins Friday, May 12 at 11 a.m. with combined events. A full schedule of events can be found on the Championship Central Page. Live results will be provided through Delta Timing, while live streaming will occur on FloTrack throughout the championship.
