The U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its preseason men’s and women’s indoor track & field national rating index as a combined 10 programs were named to the top-30.
On the men’s side, Texas Tech earned a No. 1 national ranking in the index for the fifth time in program history, while Texas chimed in at No. 4. The Big 12 is the only conference with two programs ranked within the top-5 in the nation. Kansas (No. 9) Kansas State (No. 24) and TCU (No. 27) rounded out the top-30. No. 40 Baylor, No. 63 Oklahoma State, No. 79 Oklahoma and No. 80 Iowa State capped off the Conference’s presence in the preseason rating index.
The Texas Longhorns led the way for the Big 12 in the women’s rating index with a No. 12 ranking, while Baylor (No. 15) owned the final spot within the top-15. Texas Tech (No. 26), Kansas (No. 27), Kansas State (No. 28) and Iowa State (No. 48) ranked within the top-50 in the nation, placing 60% of the Big 12 Conference within that margin. West Virginia (No. 56), Oklahoma (No. 63), Oklahoma State (No. 67) and TCU (No. 112) round out the rankings for the Conference programs.
