Baylor’s Wil London (400m, 4x400m Relay) and Kansas State’s Shardia Lawrence (Triple Jump) were named Big 12 Men's and Women's Athletes of the Week, respectively. This week’s award marks the first all-time for both student-athletes and the first on the season for both programs.
Lawrence recorded the third-best mark in the NCAA this season and a Big 12-leading 13.58m/44-06.75 in the women’s triple jump at the Razorback Invitational. The K-State senior executed four jumps that broke the 13-meter plateau, including her second jump that placed her 20th in the world this year. Lawrence owns the top three recorded marks in the Big 12 in the women’s triple jump this year.
BU’s London made his season debut in the 400 meters as he clocked a nation-leading time of 45.73 on his way to setting a facility and meet record. In addition to winning the race Friday, the Waco, Texas, native anchored the Bears’ 4x400-meter relay team to a second-place finish with a time of 3:04.76.
