Texas Tech’s Divine Oduduru, a 2019 The Bowerman Award finalist, earned a first-place vote after earning the fan vote for the award as announced by the US Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Associations (USTFCCCA).
Oduduru, the 2019 100-meter outdoor national champion and 200-meter indoor and outdoor national champion, received 48.8% of the fan votes. The former Red Raider speedster recorded nearly half of the 53,371 votes himself.
With the fan vote locked in for Oduduru, the remaining votes will be calculated through ballots from The Bowerman Advisory Board, each of the past winners, one uniform vote from members of the USTFCCCA, as well as select media personnel, statisticians and collegiate administrators.
The Bowerman, which debuted in 2009 and is named after former University of Oregon coach Bill Bowerman, is presented annually by the USTFCCCA to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track & field athletes in the nation.
The award winner will be announced Thursday, December 19, at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida.
