Longhorns Surge to First in Standings

After teams battled windy conditions, Texas emerged as the leader during the second day of the Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship. The Longhorns, who entered the day tied for fourth, move up three spots after carding a 591 (+15) through 36 holes.

Holding second place for the second straight day is Oklahoma State, sitting three strokes behind Texas with a 594 (+18).

Texas Tech vaulted from ninth place to tie for third. The Red Raiders improved by 10 strokes from the first to second round and own a 598 (+22) score heading into the final day. Kansas retains its No. 3 standing, tying with Texas Tech.

In fifth is TCU at 599 (+23), followed by Iowa State with 600 strokes (+24). Kansas State and Baylor tie for seventh with 605 (+29) while Oklahoma is ninth with a 607 (+31) mark.

Sophia Schubert (UT) recorded a one-under par mark to take over first place in the individual race. Yitsen Chou (KU) comes in second with a +2 score followed by Lauren Mason (TTU), Emilee Hoffman (UT) and Dylan Kim (BU) tying for third at +2.

Action resumes Sunday morning with the leading teams teeing off last. Oklahoma, Baylor and Kansas State tee off at 8:00 a.m., followed by Iowa State, TCU and Kansas at 9:00 a.m. The final group of Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Texas begin at 10:00 a.m. CT.

The awards ceremony will be conducted immediately following the conclusion of round three.
