Current Release in PDF

The league enters the final weekend of regular season play with four conference series and the possibility of another regular season champion. Here are the notes for week 14 of baseball:

  • Last weekend: TCU clinched a share of the regular season title on Friday, Baylor swept Oklahoma State, and OU and KU won their respective series at home.

  • For the first time since 2011 and third time overall in league play, Big 12 baseball could have regular season co-champions after this weekend. If Texas Tech sweeps Kansas in Lubbock, the Red Raiders would match the Horned Frogs with a 16-8 conference record to claim a share of the title.

  • The 2017 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship bracket will be announced after the conclusion of Sunday's Texas vs. West Virginia matchup. With one weekend to go in league play, no team has been eliminated from earning a spot in the eight-team tournament.

  • This is the third-straight week that all league teams have a .500 or better overall record.

  • The 2017 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team honors 89 student-athletes, including Matt Wilson (OSU) and Ryan Long (TTU) with perfect 4.0 GPAs. The team is comprised of 54 first team members and 25 second team honorees.

  • Austin O'Brien (OU) and Ryan Long (TTU) are three-time Academic All-Big 12 first team honorees.

  • Through Sunday's games, the league has 67 percent of its teams in the RPI top 25, the most among all conferences. The RPI is as follows:
    4. Texas Tech
    6. TCU
    13. Baylor
    17. Oklahoma
    20. West Virginia
    23. Texas
    58. Kansas
    67. Oklahoma State
    98. Kansas State

  • Oklahoma's Austin O'Brien recorded Big 12 Player of the Week honors while Baylor's Troy Montemayor and K-State's Kasey Ford were named Co-Pitchers of the Week and Shea Langeliers of Baylor earned Newcomer of the Week for their first career honors.

  • The league holds a 186-75 (.713) record over non-conference opponents this season.

  • The league holds a 37-26 (.587) record over Power 5 Conference teams, having 13 wins over Pac-12 opponents and 11 wins against the SEC.

  • Six of the league's teams are receiving votes in at least one poll nationally, including six in the NCBWA poll. Texas Tech leads with four No. 4 rankings. TCU is also ranked in the top eight in all five polls.
