Oklahoma State's Hannah Mitchell has been named the 2017 National Collegiate Equestrian Association Reining Rider of the Year, it was announced earlier this week by the organization.

Mitchell, a freshman from Cuba, Mo., had an impressive start to her collegiate career, posting a team-best 9-1 regular season record for the Cowgirls that included five consecutive MOP honors coming against every OSU opponent during the spring season.

She would go on to finish her first season with a 10-2-1 record for the Cowgirls.

"(Mitchell) had a lot of talent coming in, and I knew she had the potential to be one of our better riders," said OSU head coach Larry Sanchez. "It's nice to see this type of success within her freshman year."

Along with her NCEA Reining Rider of the Year honors, Mitchell was named the Big 12 Conference Reining Rider of the Year and a first-team NCEA All-American.
