The No. 4 University of Texas rowing team will prepare this week and early into next for the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Rowing Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana from May 31 - June 2. Texas will be the sole representative of the Big 12 Conference at the event.
Twenty-two teams were selected to compete across three events (I Eights, II Eights and Fours) in the 2019 championships. Eleven earned automatic qualification through conference championships. Each selected school will field two boats of eight rowers each and one boat of four rowers.
This will be the Longhorns' fifth consecutive appearance at the event and seventh overall in the program's 23-year history. At the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Rowing Championship, Texas finished with a program-best third place finish. California claimed its fourth rowing national title at the event at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.
The 2019 NCAA Divisions I, II and III Rowing Championships will be held at the Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park. Indiana University will serve as the NCAA host institution for the championships at Eagle Creek in conjunction with Indiana Sports Corp and the Indianapolis Rowing Center.
Eagle Creek was the venue in 2002 and 2003 when Divisions I, II and III conducted their first separate championships. Indianapolis also hosted the 2013 and 2014 Championships.
