The 2005 Big 12 Wrestling Championship will be held March 5 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. This will mark the first time in Big 12 history that a wrestling championship will take place at a neutral site. The University of Nebraska will serve as the host institution for this year’s event.

To date, Oklahoma State has won six of the eight previous titles (1997-98, 2000-2001, 2003-04) and added its second consecutive national crown as a member of the Big 12 Conference last season. Overall, the Cowboys have a league-leading 32 national championships. Oklahoma claimed the other two conference meets (1999 and 2002).

Individually, six of the nine weight class champions return to the championship field in 2005, including 2004 Big 12 Most Outstanding Wrestler Ben Askren of Missouri.
