Big 12 Showcase
FSN Midwest - Fridays, 2:30 PM (CT); Saturdays, 11:00 AM (CT)
May 9-10, 2008 ~ Showcase #38 This weekend, the Aggie hardballers are headed to Lincoln, Neb. to face the second-place Huskers, and ride that amazing streak that has seen them sweep five straight league opponents. It was just two seasons ago that head coach Rob Childress and the Aggies were sitting at the bottom of the Conference standings, missing even an invitation to the league postseason championship in Oklahoma City. Last year, the Aggies were the Championship winners and advanced all the way to the NCAA Super Regionals. This year? Showcase host Emily Jones visits with Childress and finds out. The Texas A&M track program is just two weeks away from competing in the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Boulder, Colo. - and both men and women are in outstanding position to sweep both titles. Head coach Pat Henry has a lot to be proud about, not just with his team, but also with the new indoor track facility that is still currently under construction. Next year the facility will host the Big 12 and NCAA indoor track & field championships, and this week Coach Henry gives Showcase a walking tour of the track and a preview of what to expect from his team in Boulder. All that, plus updates on the Big 12 baseball race and a preview of the softball championship in Conference Cuts, and everything else that's making news around the league in Big 12 Buzz. That's on this week's Championship edition of Big 12 Showcase - next week the show will originate from the softball championship at Oklahoma City's ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
Big 12 Showcase is a 30-minute promotion of the league with features on student-athletes, coaches, teams and conference championships. The show is shot on location each week at a different Big 12 campus or conference championship venue. In January, Emily Jones took over the hosting reigns from Bill Land. A staple for 12 seasons, Land has assumed full-time television play-by-play duties for the NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. For the 12th year, the show will be produced by Keith Fletcher of FSN. Big 12 Showcase regularly airs on FSN's Big 12 footprint regions of Southwest, Midwest and Rocky Mountain, plus the Fox College Sports network. The show is also available on the Big 12 web site. Through a unique Conference partnership, ESPN Regional Television is the co-executive producer of Big 12 Showcase. | ||||||
