Baylor’s Lauren Reid (flat), Oklahoma State’s Grace McReynolds (fences) and Tristan Bagby (co-reining), and TCU’s Mattie Dukes (horsemanship) and Giorgia Medows (co-reining) earned recognition as the Big 12 Equestrian February Riders of the Month. Reid collected her third consecutive Conference monthly accolade of the season while Dukes tallied her second consecutive and fourth of the 2023-24 campaign. Medows secured her second of the season and fourth of her career while McReynolds and Bagby grabbed their first career Conference monthly awards.
McReynolds staked a 3-0 record in fences for the month of February and averaged a score of 85.67 points per ride. The senior applied exercise major earned her first MOP of the season against No. 3 SMU after scoring a career-high and meet-leading 87 points. McReynolds also boasted a point differential of 22.17 points with her highest win differential coming against No. 1 TCU (44 points).
Reid earned her first Big 12 Flat Rider of the Month for the season after obtaining the award in fences for each of the last two months. The sophomore business major finished February with a 3-0 record, one MOP and two wins against ranked opponents. She earned her first flat MOP of the season against No. 9 UC Davis with the highest flat score of the meet (81). Reid has won four consecutive flat points and is undefeated in the spring season.
Dukes amassed her seventh award this season with an unblemished month. The graduate student, who is specializing in higher education leadership, averaged a score of 76.3 in the three meets and a win margin of 4.8. She collected wins against Fresno State (75.5-71), No. 4 South Carolina (76.5-70), and No. 7 Oklahoma State (77-74.5).
Bagby has won four straight reining matches including the first three of the spring season, to boast her longest streak. It is also the first time in her career that she has gone undefeated in a month with at least three meets. The sophomore applied exercise science major scored her season high against No. 3 SMU (72) and helped the Cowgirls claim the reining discipline in two of the three meets.
Medows rounds out the awards with a 2-0-1 February record and MOP honors against Fresno State. The finance with real estate major averaged a score of 71.3 in reining against Fresno State, No. 4 South Carolina and No. 7 Oklahoma State. The senior helped the Horned Frogs remain atop the NCEA poll as TCU won all three matchups.
