IRVING, Texas--Michael Breler (Texas Tech) has been named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while Stephanie Davison (Texas) was chosen as Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches held March 17-23. This is the first career accolade for Davison and the second weekly honor of Breler's career.

Breler clinched both the doubles and singles match points, leading Texas Tech to a dramatic win over No. 19 Texas A&M. Playing at No. 2 doubles, he and teammate Sinisa Markovic defeated Chris Chirico and Conor Pollock 7-3 in the tiebreaker set to give the duo the 9-8 win for Tech. Breler also clinched the team win in the final singles match of the day over Kayvon Karimi in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. The victory pushed the Red Raiders into first place in the Big 12 standings.

Davison tallied UT's lone singles point in its 5-2 loss to No. 10 USC by upsetting 97th-ranked Sarah Fansler in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Against the Trojans, she teamed with freshman Caroline Larsson to help clinch the doubles point, as the duo scored the 8-6 win over Fansler and Lindsey Kinstler. Davison also scored singles and doubles victories while helping Texas defeat No. 42 Sacramento State. After outlasting Luba Schifris, 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (16-14), the UT duo scored an 8-6 doubles victory over Melissa Valenzuela and Joyce Martinez.
