Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week (Oct. 16)

IRVING, Texas--Stephen Pifer (Colorado) has been named Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week for the men, while Jenny Barringer (Colorado) has earned the honor for the women for meets held Oct. 8-14. Both honorees are named for the first time in their career.

Stephen Pifer, Colorado, Sr., Edwardsville, Ind./Edwardsville
Pifer earned his highest collegiate finish by placing third at the La Verne Gibson Cross Country Course at the Wabash Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind. The Colorado men's squad placed second, led by Pifer's time of 23 minutes, 16.7 seconds in the eight kilmoter. His time was better than 232 other competitors in the race.

Jenny Barringer, Colorado, Jr., Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo
Barringer ran a La Verne Gibson Course record of 19.49 in the 6K. The pre-nationals race was the first of Barringer's season. She defeated 234 other competitors to claim her second career cross country title. Barringer led the second-ranked Colorado women's squad to a sixth place finish.
