Men's Results | Women's Results | Photo Gallery For the first time in Big 12 history, Kansas hosted the Big 12 Cross Country Championships at Rim Rock Farm, northwest of Lawrence, Kan., on Oct. 27. The Rim Rock Farm course, site of the 1998 NCAA Division I and II Cross Country Championships, features a covered bridge and landmarks that are named after former Jayhawk runners. The property is owned by former head cross country coach Bob Timmons and has been KU's home since the 1974 season. The 2006 championships began with the women's 6,000-meter race at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 8,000-meter run at 11 a.m. The top men's and women's teams are crowned league champion and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The top 15 individuals in each race are named all-conference. Colorado has dominated the Big 12 cross country scene the past 11 seasons. The men have won every title, while the women have won 10 of the 11 championships, with Kansas State claiming the only other crown in 1998. Nationally, the Buffs have produced three men's (2001, ’04 and ‘06) and two women's (2000, 2004) NCAA team championships as members of the league.
