2007 Big 12 Cross Country Postseason Honors Announced
Oct. 30, 2007
IRVING, Texas--Colorado head coach Mark Wetmore has been named the men's and women's Big 12 Cross Country Coach of the Year in a vote by the conference coaches. Wetmore has won the Big 12 Coach of the Year honors 10 times as women's head coach and all 11 times on the men's side. There were no postseason honors chosen in 1996. At the 2007 Big 12 Cross Country Championships, Colorado swept the event, winning both the men's and the women's team titles. The Buffs have captured every men's crown, and 11 of the 12 women's team championships in Big 12 history, with Kansas State winning in 1998. Oklahoma State's David Chirchir, who placed eighth, was named the men's Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, while fifth-place finisher Grace Kemmey (Iowa State), claimed the women's honor. Both were the top newcomer finishers in their respective races. The top 15 finishers in each race earned All-Big 12 honors. Ten athletes earned repeat recognition from last season.
