PITCHERS OF THE WEEK
Johnny Dorn, Nebraska, RHP, Sr., 6-3, 210, Grand Island, Neb./Grand Island
Dorn allowed just one earned run over seven innings, defeating Northern Colorado 12-2 on Saturday. He struck out a career-high 13 batters, including the first seven hitters of the game. The senior hurler did not allow a hit in his first 5.1 innings of work and surrendered just three singles. Dorn improved to 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA in three starts. He has struck out a Big 12-high 29 hitters over 20 innings while holding opponents to a .149 average. Dorn's 13 strikeouts are the most by a Husker pitcher since Joba Chamberlain fanned 13 in the 2005 NCAA Super Regional, and marks the fourth time in his career that Dorn has struck out at least 10 batters.
Brooks Raley, Texas A&M, LHP, Fr., 6-0, 170, Uvalde, Texas/Uvalde
In his first career start, Raley struck out 10 over 7.2 innings to lead the Aggies to a 2-1 win over defending Big East champion Rutgers on Saturday at Olsen Field. He faced four batters over the minimum on the night, and allowed just two RU baserunners into scoring position--stranding both. Raley's start was the longest by an Aggie this season. Only eight balls left the infield during Raley's time on the mound -- three base hits and five fly balls into the outfield.
