MU's Aaron Crow Named National Pitcher of the Week
March 25, 2008
A day after being named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week, Mizzou junior right-hander Aaron Crow was selected the NCBWA Pro-Line National Pitcher of the Week. Crow recorded his second-straight complete-game shutout last Friday against Baylor, striking out 10 to move to 5-0 on the season. Crow improved his streak of scoreless innings to 25.2. He retired the final eight batters he faced, including striking out the last five, and leads the Big 12 with 51 strikeouts in 35 innings of work. The shutout lowered his ERA to 1.03. He is the third Tiger in the last four years to earn National Pitcher of the Week honors. Rick Zagone took the award in April of 2007 and Max Scherzer claimed the honor in April of 2005. Fort Worth-based Pro-Line Athletic supplies the official cap to more than 100 Division I college teams and official uniforms and team wear to six Division 1 college teams. This is the fourth year Pro-Line has sponsored the NCBWA's Players of the Week. The sponsorship provides for plaques to be awarded to each of the weekly winners and other promotional consideration.
