Texas A&M Head Soccer Coach G Guerrieri Named NSCAA Central Region Coach of the Year

COLLEGE STATION, Texas-- After leading the Texas A&M soccer team to its fourth-consecutive Big 12 regular season title, head coach G Guerrieri was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Coach of the Year for the Central Region, the association announced this week. Guerrieri earned the honor for the third time (1997, 2005 and 2007) since his arrival in Aggieland in 1993. As the only coach in Aggie soccer history, Guerrieri has amassed an impressive overall record of 255-73-14 and a 94-19-5 mark in Big 12 competition. Guerrieri's career record stands at 271-85-14 in 17 seasons as a collegiate head coach. Consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally, Guerrieri's Aggies have advanced to the NCAA tournament for 13 straight seasons dating back to 1995 and have posted eight "Sweet Sixteen" appearances and three trips to the "Elite Eight". In conference play, Guerrieri has guided his squads to an impressive 10 regular season and tournament titles, six of which have been achieved in the last four years. Guerrieri has twice been named Big 12 Co-Coach of the Year (1997, 2002). Guerrieri's long resume also names him as the NAIA Regional Women's Coach of the Year (1989), the NJCAA Regional Men's Coach of the Year (1991, 1992) and the NJCAA Regional Women's Coach of the Year (1992). Coach Guerrieri will be joined by Rob Klatte (Purdue), Nikki Izzo-Brown (W. Virginia), Simon Riddiough (Hofstra), Patrick Baker (Georgia) and Ali Khosroshahin (USC) on the ballot as candidates for the National Coach of the Year presented by the NSCAA and Adidas.
