IRVING, Texas-- Tallie Thrasher (Texas) and Megan Gibson (Texas A&M) have been named the Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Week for games of March 19-24, the conference announced. Thrasher is receiving her second career weekly award, while this is Gibson's sixth career accolade and third this season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tallie Thrasher, Texas, DP, So., Southlake, Texas/Carroll
Thrasher posted a 1.000 batting average while reaching base in all 11 of her plate appearances last week. The Southlake, Texas native recorded six hits in six at bats including a double, home run and two RBI, while adding five walks. The sophomore notched a 1.000 on-base percentage in UT's three games and slugged at a 1.667 clip for the week.

Thrasher registered one hit and one run scored while drawing three walks in the Longhorns' Big 12 Conference opener versus Nebraska. In game two against the Huskers, the sophomore posted a perfect 3-for-3 effort, including a home run off the centerfield scoreboard. She registered two RBI and one run scored in the victory. This is the second weekly award for Thrasher this season.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Megan Gibson, Texas A&M, Sr., 1B/P, Spring, Texas/Spring
Gibson made two appearances on the mound last week leading the Aggies to wins over No. 15 Baylor and Texas Tech. The senior started Big 12 play with a 7-0 shutout of the Bears, allowing just four hits. She struck out seven and walked two en route to her 17th victory of the season. Gibson picked up her 18th win against Texas Tech in extra innings. The senior worked nine complete innings and struck out a career-high 16 batters.

At the plate, Gibson hit at a .333 clip, scoring two runs and drawing four walks to extend her Big 12-career lead to 148. The two-time NFCA All-American leads the Big 12 in ERA (0.78), wins (18), walks (31), shutouts (9), innings pitched (125) and complete games (18).
