Rachel Shipley (Texas A&M), Paula Pritzen (Missouri), Jessica Fuston (Texas Tech) and Danielle Nottingham (Missouri) have earned Big 12 Soccer Player of the Week accolades for games played from Oct. 22-24. This is the fifth overall honor for Shipley, fourth in the offensive category. It is the first for both Pritzen and Nottingham, while Fuston is collecting her third Newcomer of the Week honor this season, only the third player in Big 12 history to capture the award three or more times in a single season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Shipley, Texas A&M, MF, Sr., Plano, Texas
Shipley scored the tying goal in TAMU's 2-1 double overtime win over Oklahoma on Friday and netted the game winner in the Aggies' 1-0 victory over then-ranked No. 5 Oklahoma State. The two wins helped Texas A&M claim a share of the Big 12 regular season title. On Friday, Shipley pressured the Sooners with a season-high nine shots, converting the tying goal near the 49th minute mark, just 54 seconds after OU's goal. On Sunday, her goal in the 19th minute marked her ninth of the season. The senior ranks in the top 10 in the league in shots, points and goals.
Defensive Player of the Week
Paula Pritzen, Missouri, GK, Sr., Spring, Texas
Pritzen started her fourth and fifth matches of the season this past weekend helping the Tigers to two wins. On Friday, the senior picked up her second shutout of the season as Missouri defeated Baylor 1-0. On Sunday, she recorded five saves as the Tigers bet Texas Tech 5-2. Pritzen had six saves on the weekend, filling in for injured keeper Jessica Gwin. The two wins guaranteed the Tigers at least a .500 conference mark.
Co-Newcomers of the Week
Jessica Fuston, Texas Tech, F, Fr., Cedar Park, Texas
Fuston recorded her first hat trick of her career, scoring all three goals in a 3-2 Texas Tech overtime win over Iowa State on Friday. The freshman ranks 54th nationally in goals per game. Fourteen of her 22 points on the season have come in conference play, while six of her 10 goals are in league action.
Danielle Nottingham, Missouri, MF, Fr., Frisco, Texas
Nottingham accounted for seven points over the weekend as the Tigers swept a pair of matches. On Friday, the freshman collected her first career goal with five minutes left in the match to give MU a 2-0 win over Baylor. Nottingham tallied two more goals and added an assist in Mizzou's 5-2 win over Texas Tech on Sunday.
